Additions to the 2009 program

The Queenscliff Music Festival’s 2009 program just got a whole lot bigger with the announcement of a huge array of new acts for the program. Joining the already wide array of artists on the festival stage will be the fantastic saltwater sounds of Broome’s.

The Pigram Brothers, the sublime blend of kora, virtuosic Indian tabla and slide guitar with Djan Djan (Jeff Lang, Mamadou Diabate, Bobby Singh), Festival favourites The Badloves, South Australia’s Leader Cheetah, Peter Combe, Grace Barbe from the Seychelles, Jimi Hocking, Howl, country swing super group The Junes, Blue Heat, Gun Street Girls, Black Market Rhythm Co, Bonjah and Matt Joe Gow & The Deadleaves.

Other news is that country music’s hottest female trio, The McClymonts, will perform live at The Queenscliff Music Festival for the first time this year as part of the Telstra Road to Tamworth national talent search on Saturday 28 November.

Artists already announced include international reggae superstars The Original Wailers, Australian-made legend Tim Finn and the chart topping, Little Birdy. The Festival has become famous for the diversity of its programming and 09 will not disappoint with performances from Marcia Hines, Chilean virtuoso Nano Stern, the dirty swampy New Orleans sound of Chris Jagger’s Atcha, the seductive and shockingly original Bertie Blackman, soul rocker Dan Sultan, Whitley, Ed Kuepper & The Kowalski Collective, Melbourne power popsters Even, The Melbourne Symphony Chamber Players add a classic edge to the festival this year and at the other end of the spectrum is this year’s special concert Tribute to The Rolling Stones featuring a range of festival artists - these as well as many more fantastic acts will entertain the crowds across the last weekend in November.

With its sweeping views of Swan Bay and old world streetscape, this 19th century seaside town hosts over 200 performances from across Australia and the globe for its thirteenth year. Queenscliff is located in a world heritage listed site, and the music is played across a gorgeous range of venues from circus marquees, grand Victorian ballrooms, intimate church spaces and spilling out into the street.

Queenscliff Music Festival prides itself on the depth and breadth of their program with a line up which is truly cross-generational; this is the festival where both older and young types get into the groove, where the music reaches music lovers of all ages.

Dubbed one of Australia’s great Festival experiences, it’s a “don’t miss” event on the calendar, combining the best in music experience with a relaxed, cruisey coastal feel.

This year’s Festival looks to be heading for a sell out with the Early bird ticket allocation snapped up in record time. All ticket types are now on sale including session tickets.
